Security Fix : Intellipeer Email Server

We received a report yesterday of a vulnerability in the POP3 component of Intellipeer Email Server. The vulnerability allowed a malicious hacker to figure out email account names through trial and error based on the response of the POP3 USER command.

We have corrected the problem and posted a fix on our site at http://www.nettica.com/Downloads/Default.aspx. We encourage all current customers to upgrade to this latest release. There have been no reports of any customers actually affected by this vulnerability, but expect some activity based on this report.

Nettica DNS Manager client updated

After months of error free operation, we've made some minor updates to the Nettica DNS Manager. We fixed a minor datagrid problem (thanks Mark) that was hard to repro, but easy enough to fix, and made some asthetic changes to the service monitor. It is now easy to distinguish whether the service is running based on a green, yellow, or red background.

If you already have the client installed and it's working for you, there is no need to upgrade to this version. To install this version, you will be required to uninstall the previous version. Any settings you have will be preserved. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact support.

Site Updates for 9/10/2004

Adding domains to your bulk DNS service just got easier. You can now cut and paste your list of domains directly into a text area and we'll add it to your account. There is no longer a limit of adding 10 domains at a time, and we can easily accept the output of many command line tools that list domain names.

Site Update for 9/7/2004

Updated database to increase the length of DNS data records to accommodate very long SPF records. Data records can now be up to 200 characters in length. If you run into any problems with the result of this change, please contact support immediately.

Bulk DNS API Updated

The Nettica Bulk DNS Web Service API has been updated to support creation of Secondary DNS domains via the API. CreateSecondaryZone() takes the name and IP address of the master DNS server to create a slave zone on our servers.

To delete a secondary domain, use DeleteZone().

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of .biz domain name registrations and transfers. .BIZ domains are used by companies providing goods and services and may not be purchased for the purpose of reselling. One of the best features of .biz domains is the turnaround time on registrations. While .com and .net registrations typically take 24 hours, .biz domain registrations can complete and begin resolving in minutes.

Pricing for .biz domains is the same as our other TLDs (.com, .net, and .org) at $20/year. We are very excited about this new offering, which was added at the request of our customers.
