Power Outage - Seattle Datacenter

As of 9:30 AM ET 7/4/2009 Power and connectivity was restored to the Fisher Plaza datacenter, bringing all services back online. Communications with the datacenter confirm that power is still being provided through temporary generators, but they do not expect any further outages. The building sustained significant damage to it's power systems, which they are currently diagnosing prior to repair. We will continue to provide updates as the situation merits.

---

Update: Internap has temporary generators coming online to supply power to the datacenter while the damaged power conduits are repaired. The ETA for completion of this work is late this evening (PT). If this work runs into complications, we will be restoring service through our Atlanta datacenter.

DDOS Attack

Starting at approximately 4:30PM ET Nettica DNS servers came under a distributed denial of service attack (DDOS). This lasted approximately one hour, with intermittent problems afterwards. This attack was very large (>15,000 unique addresses). We have been in constant contact with our upstream providers and are working diligently to address the issue. Please note that we may not respond to each email individually regarding this issue. Please check back here and on the website for additional details.

Recent DNS vulnerability does not affect Nettica DNS Services

We've had a number of questions from customers recently regarding the DNS vulnerability that I'm sure you've read about in the news. The exploit involves caching DNS servers that do recursive lookups, which account for about 90% of all DNS servers on the Internet. Our authoritative name servers do not make recursive lookups, and are therefore unaffected by the exploit. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email support.
