Mail Services are back online.

Multiple hardware failures on our primary systems required us to switch to our backup infrastructure.

If you are a hosted email customer and are missing email, rest assured it will be restored shortly. If you begin experiencing duplicate emails, simply login to webmail and clear your inbox by clicking on Manage Folders, and then clicking on the trashcan to the right of the the Inbox folder. Mail Service Outage

At about 12:35 AM PT we lost a hard drive in the array supporting our mail services. The system is currently rebuilding to a hot spare and should be available again within an hour. We are very sorry for this inconvenience. Stay tuned here for additional updates.

Website performance improvement

Large bulk DNS customers will notice much faster login times thanks for a handful of performance improvements. All customers will feel some benefit from this, although the performance increase will be most dramatic for customers with more than 500 domains.

Based on customer requests we've added the ability to copy templates between groups, as well as create a new Group/Template based on an existing template. All of this can be found in the bulk DNS management pages. You may also notice a few look-and-feel updates that are small but nice usability enhancements. If you have any problems using the new features please don't hesitate to contact support.

Customer Alert : Spoofed emails containing a trojan

A number of our customers have reported receiving email with the subject "Hosting Regular Security Maintenance" purportedly from "Nettica Inc." containing an attachment "safeguard.php" with instructions to put this file in the root of your web server. This email is NOT from Nettica. The attachment is a trojan and the spammers are using social engineering to infect your servers. Do NOT install the file. Instead, send us the email as an attachment to support@nettica.com so that we may review the headers and take the appropriate measures. If you have any questions or concerns please contact support.

DNS1 & DNS2 under DDOS attack

UPDATE 10:01 PM : DNS1 has recovered from the DDOS attack. We are still working on bringing DNS2 back online. Any delays in DNS propagation has now completed.

TEAM NETTICA

dns1.nettica.com and dns2.nettica.com are currently under a distributed denial of service attack. This is causing intermittent problems in resolving domains using those servers.

Please ensure your domains include our other nameservers, dns3.nettica.com, dns4.nettica.com, and dns5.nettica.com. You update the list of nameservers for a domain at your domain registrar.

UPDATE: Resolution on dns1 has been restored. The attack has not yet subsided, but service has been restored for customers that just had dns1 and dns2 listed in the registry.

UPDATE: If you have rebranded your DNS services with us, there is something you can do to allieviate problems with DNS resolution, but it's not on our site. Go to your domain registrar and change the IP address of your rebranded dns1 and dns2.nettica.com and point them to the IP addresses of dns3 and dns4.nettica.com.

We will update this as the situation progresses.

Nettica DNS Manager 1.1

Today we updated our Nettica DNS Manager to version 1.1. This version requires the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1. Since our last build of the DDNS client was over two years ago and required the 1.0 Framework, it was time to move forward. A nice benefit of this simple change was the download image was reduced from 1.8MB to 300kb.

New Backup Mail Service Feature

We've added user hints to our backup mail service. Now, if you choose, you may specify a list of users that we will accept mail for. This helps reduce unnecessary traffic to your server, saving everyone time and bandwidth.
