All necessary steps have been taken to prepare for Hurricane Irene threatening the US eastern coast.  We will be closely monitoring our systems and services and will keep you posted if any problems arise.  Everyone, including our upstream providers, are well prepared and fully staffed for any issues that may occur over the weekend.  Please contact support if you have any questions.

UPDATE: There was a problem with this rollout which caused ICMP Ping requests from the new locations to fail, which created some false positives for about 30 minutes.  The problem was quickly diagnosed and corrected.    Please contact support with any questions.

Please note that URL forwarding is not a function of DNS and your web server can handle URL forwarding itself, if there is critical need.

We are currently performing maintenance on DNS1 tonight as a result of a distributed denial of service attack against our services earlier today.  There will be no DNS resolution problems as a result of this maintenance, although you should avoid making any changes to your DNS during this two hour maintenance window.  Thanks for your understanding.

We've added additional FailSafe monitoring locations.  If you have ACLs for our probes, you should grant accesss to the following IP blocks in your configuration:

New FailSafe monitoring location

We're happy to announce we have added an European location (London) to our FailSafe monitoring nodes.  This provides additional robustness to an already very robust service.  If you are an existing FailSafe customer, there is nothing you need to do to take advantage of this new node, it has undoubtedly already monitored your website.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact support.

DDNS updates enhanced

We now support "DynDNS-Style" updates to your DNS records.  If your router hardware supports specifying a server name for your dynamic updates, use the following for your Nettica DNS:

Server Address:  update.nettica.com 
Hostname:        {fully qualified domain name}
Username:        {nettica username}
Password:        {nettica password}


This update method is currently in BETA.  Please contact support if you have any problems.
